Today's THE day!

Currently listening to:
"Time of Our Lives" - Paul van Dyk

The song blasting through my laptop speakers right now is ridiculously relevant. I have been waiting for this day for months and I honestly believe this (RIGHT NOW) is the time of my life. I am about to begin a journey that most students do not have the opportunity or means necessary to experience. I am TRULY thankful and blessed to be able to study abroad this semester.

Oxford will certainly provide its share of challenges and frustrations. It's my goal through all the struggles to learn more about the world around me, myself, and others. I know a study abroad experience is about more than studying, and also more than simply being "over there." I will use the upcoming experience to expand my worldviews and try to hone in on who this Anna Harms girl really is - which is pretty exciting to discover, if you ask me!

As I anticipate my 5:25 pm departure, lot
s of emotions flood over me. For example, I slept like a rock last night (thank goodness! I was expecting a toss-n-turn type of night) and when I woke up, after realizing that today is THE day, I got a tad bit more emotional than I would like to admit about the thought of leaving behind my wonderful family and friends and the world's most loving boyfriend. It's a sad idea, I just want to take them all with me (and maybe our kitties, too!) Regardless, the excited emotions of traveling to and residing in a new country outweigh the sadness of leaving loved ones behind.

Speaking of WEIGHT: I hope my luggage isn't too heavy. And I hope I don't double in weight on the airplane - I bought a ridiculous amount of candy for the flight yesterday.

This post should probably be more sentimental, but I'm just really excited right now. I look forward to whatever adventures await me across the pond, the relationships that will form, and the exceptional educational experience of being taught by Oxford professors.

Let's do this!
xoxo
Anna

Airplane essentials! (minus Orange Kitty, unfortunately!)
